If you are a homeowner protect your investment - if you are an installer protect your reputation... ask for the Heater Treater® by name, don't accept an imitation.

The Heater Treater® was the first scale prevention product specifically designed to protect tankless water heaters from the effects of hard water scaling. Created over 15 years ago, the Heater Treater® is the proven industry leader and most recommended scale prevention unit on the market today!

Provides scale protection for all tankless water heaters, tank water heaters, boilers and solar hot water systems.

HOW IT WORKS

the Heater Treater is installed on the feed water line just prior to the tankless water heater. As the water passes through the filter cartridge the treatment media uniquely located in the interior of the filter, slowly dissolves into the water supply providing scale protection to the heater in several ways.

  • FIRST:

The treatment media interferes with the ability of the calcium and magnesium to crystallize or become scale when heated. This by itself is a very effective scale prevention process.

  • SECOND:

It lays down a thin protective coating on the interior of the heater (most importantly the heat exchanger) that does not allow any scale that might be created from adhering to the interior of the heater.

  • LASTLY:

The 5 micron filter provides added protection from rust, sediment or debris that could affect the operation of the heater.

IS THE TREATMENT MEDIA SAFE

The treatment media is 100% food grade material approved by the FDA, NSF, and World Health Organization. This media is also odorless, tasteless and colorless.

OPERATING CONDITIONS

The Heater Treater® is to be used as a scale prevention system only for tank and tankless water heaters, solar hot water systems and boilers. It is designed solely for the treatment of the feed water to these units. Not intended for any other purpose.

FAQs

  • How Often Do the Filters Require Replacing?

    • A residential installation on a city or municipal water supply should have yearly filter changes.
    • A commercial installation on a city or municipal water supply should have filters changed every six months.
    • There are exceptions due to water quality, water usage, etc. Call if you have any questions.

  • What Purpose Does the Gauge Perform?

The gauge is a water pressure indicator.  A reduction of water pressure could indicate a filter change is needed. A high pressure reading would indicate plumbing attention is needed. Regardless of gauge readings, filter cartridges should be replaced at the recommended time interval.

  • Why Is It So Important to Replace the Filter?

Treatment media is loaded inside each filter. This material dissolves over time.  If this material is not present, it will not be able to protect the heater. For this reason, we suggest the 6 month interval for commercial installations and 12 month interval for residential installations.

Another reason is that when the filter collects enough sediment, dirt, rust, etc. the operation of the heater is potentially affected due to reduced flow or low water pressure.  The filter, by capturing the sedimentation in the water, has provided additional protection to the internal parts and operation of the heater. Excessive sedimentation can happen from various sources: old water distribution lines in a town or city, private wells, old plumbing, water usage, distribution line repairs, etc.

  • I See You Have Multiple Units, How Do I Know Which One to Choose?

The units are rated just like tankless water heaters (gallons per minute (gpm) of water flow).  Using the manufacturer’s specifications for your specific heater, use the maximum gpm of hot water produced by your heater to match up to the corresponding Heater Treater unit.  If you’re still unsure as to which to choose, you’re welcome to call us for help.

FTHT-10-REVFLO(G)Heating applications rated at less than 5.0 gpm¾” inlet & outlet
FTHT-20-REVFLO(G)Heating applications rated at less than 9.8 gpm¾” inlet & outlet
FTHT-BBHeating applications rated up to 15.0 gpm1” inlet & outlet
FTHT-BB-HFC50Heating applications rated up to 50.0 gpm1½” inlet & outlet
  • Does the Heater Treater Have a Warranty?

Each unit carries a limited 1 year warranty for material and workmanship. For detailed warranty information and to register your product, click here.

  • Any Restrictions on Where the Units Can be Installed?

The units can be installed inside or outside. Use common sense when installing - protect from freezing and if possible keep out of direct sunlight. Do not install above equipment that will result in damage to the equipment or area adjacent to the heater or to lower floors of the structure (i.e. attics).
